Rumors are circulatung accross Punjab after a message on social media claimed that the extension of winter vacation for schools and colleges. Parents of students are worried and want to know the exact date of reopening institutions.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat issued a clarification, stating that all educational institutions will reopen as per the original schedule on January 12, 2026. He shared the message publicly to counter misleading claims circulating online.
The clarification followed the spread of a fake notification suggesting an extension in winter holidays. However, officials confirmed that no new notification has been issued by the Punjab government, and the existing schedule remains unchanged.
Earlier, the education minister had also dismissed similar rumors and urged the public to avoid trusting unverified information shared on social platforms. He stressed that official announcements should only be relied upon for updates related to school and college schedules.
The Punjab government had previously announced winter vacations for all public and private educational institutions from December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026. According to the plan, academic activities will resume after the weekend, starting Monday, January 12, 2026.
Parents and students have been advised to follow updates from official government sources and ignore false claims to avoid confusion.
